报告摘要:Light-matter interaction mainly relies on the electric component of light, especially for nonmagnetic materials. The responses of such materials to the magnetic component of light are usually negligible at frequencies above a few terahertz. Therefore, realizing effective optical magnetism is very important for increasing the dimensions or degrees of freedom in light filed manipulation. Optical Mie resonances in subwavelength dielectric structures with high refractive indices provide a versatile platform for studying optical induced magnetic resonances, where various promising functions have been demonstrated via magnetic resonances, such as directional scattering of light, enhanced optical nonlinearity, nonradiative anapole, subwavelength topological edge states, and Purcell factor enhancements etc. In this presentation, we show that tunable ideal magnetic dipole scattering can be realized in the optical spectrum. Leveraging the coupling among magnetic dipole resonances, we show that magnetic dipole bound state in the continuum with an infinite Q factor can be achieved and further pinpoint the importance of toroidal dipole moment involved in the optical scattering.
报告人简介:徐毅,广东工业大学“青年百人计划”特聘教授,国家优秀青年科学基金、广东省自然科学杰出青年基金、广东特支计划科技创新青年拔尖人才和广州市珠江科技新星获得者,目前是中国和美国光学学会会员。主要研究方向为光场调控技术及其在信息处理的应用,以第一作者和通讯作者(含共同)在Nature Photonics和Phys. Rev. Lett.等权威学术期刊上发表学术论文40余篇,研究成果曾入选中国光学十大进展和中国光学领域十大社会影响力事件,曾获Nature Conference 等3个国内外学术会议的海报报告奖,曾任中文核心期刊《光学学报》的专题编辑。
